Is this your company?

Pros

The salaries are generally pretty high. Work roles and responsibilities are somewhat flexible; if you want to learn something new and you have time for it, nobody prevents you from digging into it. The patent program is rewarding. You can develop your skills here if you don't need much hand-holding.

Cons

Management is very reactive and has a hard time doing anything new. The company does not encourage innovation except in some superficial ways. Managers do not understand the product very well and only a few are technical. Some groups are swamped in work while some groups are quite overstaffed. I've seen both sides.

Pros

Redback has a recognized name in the telecom / data networking industry. An early pioneer and leader in the subscriber management space, still carries weight in having been associated with the company. Ericsson acquisition was a good thing overall for the broader company while there is still some near term reshuffling. Company is growing at a healthy clip in terms of staffing up and hiring, scaling the organization to meet Ericsson's plans, but it will mostly be a technology resource to feed the broader Ericsson machine. As a stand-alone entity, will have limited success in the marketplace selling point products.

Cons

more political than usual for company size, different now with ericsson in the mix
