Pros

Many highly committed women Good systems and processes in terms of work with service users Well resourced Excellent training Glamorous head office on Tower Bridge

Cons

Systemic lack of care for employees wellbeing There are several women at the head of the organisation that are not good or kind people and regularly take deeply unethical actions Bullying is tolerated HR processes ignored at the whim of the CEO and other senior staff (bullying allegations / exit interview feedback / recruitment of CEOs daughter without advertising/interview) Poor on equalities issues Spend funds inappropriately (huge senior salaries/ glamorous head office on Tower Bridge) Lack integrity A disappointing place to work for most feminists and anyone working towards genuine equality for all

Pros

Excellent training opportunities and fulfilling work

Cons

The higher levels of leadership show very little concern for staff wellbeing and completely lack transparency. There are barely any efforts to seek staff input and where it is asked for, it feels completely ignored.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you feel that your experience at Refuge was not a positive one. In the short while I have been at Refuge, I have seen the dedication of staff which has been further emphasized by the challenges of the recent pandemic crisis. The senior leadership have been working to put in place a well being package for staff that includes both practical support - providing personal protection equipment for those working in the refuges and access to office equipment for those working at home; alongside psychological support ranging from self help resources, group learning sessions and 1-1 support. We have also introduced a staff forum to give staff a voice with direct access to the senior leadership team. However, we can always do better, so please do get in touch directly if you have suggestions that would help us improve further.
