Pros
-Lots of samples -Decent sales training -Endless supply of wine knowledge for those interested -Upper management seems to care about the employees as long as they deliver sales -While the pay is still on the lower end for a similar job with a competitor, there are other benefits that I believe compensate for that. Like cell phone, gas card and health insurance. -You get close with your team through emotional breakdowns
Cons
-Hours expected from you are far beyond what is initially discussed. It's almost impossible to be successful without putting in major un-paid overtime. -Expectations from senior management are not realistic -Emotionally taxing, a lot of stress to meet goals -Bonus and incentive payout is highly dependent on your territory location, so basically a crap-shoot. -Out-dated sales tracking makes your weekly paperwork a nightmare. -Company not staying competitive. The daily grind gets harder as your competitors are evolving their methods. -Young, inexperienced managers make constant adaptation to moods a must -Very cliquey. Management has clear favorites, definitely noticed friends get promoted quickly. -Feels like high school, constant gossip, plenty of homework and expected reading assignments. -Almost impossible to have a personal life outside of work -Hours are usually 4 or 5a until 2p but you always end up working past that, starting earlier and showing up on the weekends (that's really the only way to be successful). You'll also definitely work later in the evening when you have paper work due.
