Pros

My coworkers that I work with on the floor (Nurses and MHTs) are some of the best people. Relatively flexible scheduling.

Cons

Administration (Specifically the COO) ZERO transparency Staff Safety Administration’s total lack of care about what is happening to their employees. The COO does not have any nursing experience, so going to her with concerns feels useless. She will show up to Codes sometimes and it always feels like she is there to make it look like she cares but tries to ask team members questions in the middle of behavioral codes (patient being physical with other patients/staff) when the team is actively trying to de-escalate a patient (AKA not a good time to come in and ask questions). Not once has she ever tried to ask questions / check up AFTER the event where I may actually be able to answer questions or maybe provide suggestions. It feels like she thinks “I showed up in the moment, see I care”. When in reality in these situations, staff are actively trying to de-escalate a patient and figure out what further steps need to be taken. Maybe she could try reviewing camera footage of the event and then coming to talk to staff once she has reviewed the footage. OR even if she doesn’t have time to review footage, coming to ask staff once things have calmed down. Fortunately, I have never been seriously injured during these events, but there are PLENTY of staff who have been and maybe she could at least pretend to care if they are doing okay. Seem to not care in the slightest that they have lost approximately 10 nurses recently (some of which had completed over 5 years with them). At this point it just feels like they are getting ready to shut down, so they genuinely do not care what is happening. It is an absolute mess right now, nurses who have been there for awhile have constantly commented that they have never seen it this bad. Short staffing - even when house supervisors try to not take additional patients because we are already out of ratio/short staffed, the COO will override them and make them take additional patients..pushing us further out of ratio.
