Pros
Decent pay, but way below union averages, and there are NO raises. I have learned a lot about the steel industry and have greatly increased my industrial capabilities due to employee training. Some of my co-workers are very talented and have given me a lot of confidence to advance my skill set.
Cons
Management treats people like equipment, and then gives them the lack of equipment to do the actual job. This turns into mandatory overtime and workers do not get to experience freedom in any way. If you agree to work for Ryerson, you are agreeing to give away your life. You no longer will have any rights in the workforce. You will be treated like an indentured servant instead of someone that has a life outside of work. I might as well build a house in the parking lot because the boss won't give me more than half a day off.
