Pros

Working with young people can be rewarding.

Cons

Management expects instructors to constantly talk at the student throughout the entire drive, even when the student is super nervous and isn’t comprehending, but they tell instructors to provide concise and clear instructions to students. It’s contradictory. The “training” is a hodgepodge mess. They shuffle the new employee around to various other instructors who each give different versions of what they think is important. There is no consistency. Back biting amongst the instructors is pervasive and the work culture is extremely negative. Two instructors each separately told me that they have shockingly high turnover, especially in the new hires. If they can get management off their backs they tend to stay longer. But even longer term employees often move to other “schools” or jobs or get fired. The back biting takes hold and management believes it. There are plenty of other driving schools with much higher ratings. Even if the commute is longer I strongly recommend people wanting to teach driving go somewhere else. I was also told that getting time off approved is a nightmare even for long term employees. One of the worst experiences of all my working years.
