Pros
Supportive culture, mainly because of my immediate manager. Nice environment. With only a couple of exceptions, faculty was wonderful.
Cons
Upper leadership: The mindset that "the prestige of working at Smith" should make up for the low salary runs contrary to the equity-signaling. $41K as a salary for seasoned support staff is absolutely not sustainable. I hated to have to leave a job that I liked in every other sense. I got along very well with my supervisor and the culture among my peers was very good. I hated having to give that up. The salary was the only reason I left and people forget it's the primary reason people work. Had they paid a living wage, I think I would still be there. My boss hated having to retrain, re-onboard, etc., but she had little control over wages.
