Pros

I know the recent string of reviews paint a bad picture, but keep in mind the company executed layoffs so what should we expect to see here? I was laid off in 2024 and never left a review, but after seeing the recent feedback I felt like it was time to provide a cooled-off perspective. Overall, my experience while with SMS (for a few years) was very positive. I've worked a few other places and can say confidently that SMS made a real effort to prioritize employee well-being. The weirdest thing about these recent reviews is that while actually employed here, I rarely heard people complain about the employee experience. A few things of note that I liked: - Unlimited PTO (it's legitimate and probably even overused) - Peer-to-peer rewards system - Certification bonuses - Remote work (they gave out remote work stipends)

Cons

- Performance. The company just hasn't performed in a long time so obviously business is suffering. - Accountability. Too many team members abused remote work and it was frustrating to have some people contribute significantly more to performance than others. - Leadership team. The CEO was just about never heard from and this always felt weird to me, especially as business was struggling. Makes it hard to truly trust what they're doing at all times.

Pros

My direct manager was amazing, she went above and beyond for us and truly did care about our well being. The team I worked with was always amazing. Unlimited PTO

Cons

I wanted to keep my opinions to myself, mainly because I am only one of five people who have left the company and not been laid off in the last 2 years. However, today there was a massive round of layoffs which made me think again on leaving a review. The "cool kids club" existed, I was apart of it. Yes I worked hard, but I also was put on a pedastal because of my relationship with the leadership team. For months I gave warning about bad client relationships and it was passively overlooked. I worked hard for my clients and wanted to see their success, but was eventually overworked and my mental health was drastically effected. I was a top performer, was well liked, and was an excellent employee, but all of these reveiws, without the frustrating (deserved) tone, is all fairly accurate. I know that these reviews seem harsh, but the job was toxic. I hope that this review coming from someone who quit is an accurate representation of what this company is.
