It is unfortunate that there are certain past employees that have compromised the integrity of the business and clients' interest with slow and unprofessional responses, plus excessive taking leaves and leaving work undone. By using slow processes as a facade, they attempt to escape scott-free with their unprofessional attitude towards work and clients. Despite repeated warnings from management and middle managers, they continued their ways and have to be forced to go. As a result, many clients' complaints behind the scenes have to be picked up by current employees and management. It is time to reflect if such an approach can be acceptable in any company, let alone startup. Good news is that such people have left leaving them to learn from the brutality of the corporate world and to grow up a little more.
