Pros

Sovrn has done an amazing job building a team that is intelligent, hard working and passionate about a similar mission. There are few people within the building that aren't willing to go the extra mile to make someone else's job easier. The leadership team tends to get beaten up on these reviews (take it with a grain of salt), but I have seen the exact opposite over my three years with the company. Everyone from the CEO down is approachable and willing to provide insight on the issues at hand. As an individual contributor, I have never felt that title or status has mattered, and have grown more with this company than any other in my career.

Cons

The industry is evolving, which has forced the team to make some tough decisions. We have lost strong talent due to layoffs and the residual effect of the layoffs. Sovrn is certainly still in start-up mode in many ways, and currently running a bit leaner than we previously have. Be prepared to work hard with little to room to slack off. This isn't a con in my opinion but worth noting.

Pros

- Sovrn has a strong work/life balance, and somewhat competitive perks (unlimited PTO). - The people are great and the atmosphere is relaxed. - The work is challenging. - A good place to get your career started in tech.

Cons

- In an increasingly commodified + competitive market, with pressure coming in on all sides, Sovrn has struggled to bring a substantial differentiator to market. The work that is being championed is bringing it up to mid 2010's level technology. - Sovrn has continually decided to invest in cost-savings + infrastructure overhauls, which are needed, but this ultimately prohibits new products, forward-thinking and a growth-first mindset. - Decision makers are siloed and have narrow POVs. - Executive level is an insiders club and rarely held accountable. - Individual Contributors are consistently asked to go above and beyond without clear understanding of what it will do for them + the company. - Every product competes with each other, rather than contributing to each other. Resourcing is usually too lean (before large layoffs). - Less that competitive pay for the industry.
