Pros
Getting classroom experience, consultants guide you and give you training. They help you obtain your teaching credential, and you get full time hours and pay if you are part of the TeachStart program. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity.
Cons
The company honestly does not have any cons. There were a couple of times when I was placed in schools that did not support subs at all, and that was on the school admin, not TeachStart. The TeachStart consultants heard me out and placed me at different sites. They do listen to you. Kids are tough with subs so be prepared to set up boundaries and don’t back down on them. If a school’s admin does not support you in maintaining classroom management, report it to your TeachStart consultant. TeachStart has been helpful throughout the whole school year.
