      Work with no boss over your shoulder

      Cons

      Low pay $14 per hour, and long hours in the summer. Mostly outside work testing cement from cement trucks and making samples and then collecting those samples approximately a week later. High probability of getting laid off in the winter as the work dries up because companies don't normally pour concrete in the cold weather.

      Work/life balance Career advancement training opportunities

      Cons

      Toxic top-down management culture. Environmental employees are expendable. If you aren’t an engineer, good luck. Management does not care to get to know their employees and favoritism is the norm, not the exception. Unrealistic expectations from new hires. Low compensation for industry standards.
