Pros

Casual, informal atmosphere without bureaucracy. Strong team mentality, opportunities to make friends. Cool product. Good compensation and benefits. Good place to stay for a few years, put "senior" in your job title, and move along.

Cons

Too friendly at times, almost fake. The informal attitude makes it hard to see how things really work behind the scenes (no real transparency). No commitment to a plan, perhaps normal for a "startup". Every month something changes in the priorities, based on feelings and without transparency. Hiring managers hire and fire without transparency. "Company culture" means "whoever is like us". Feedback doesn't count unless it's overall positive and from current employees. Over the years many good employees that invested their time in the company left but nothing was done to correct the causes. The most senior people are "in a good place" and do not really want to take responsibility for bad outcomes, hiding behind the "team mentality". Behind the mask of a progressive American-style company is a small, greek family business that doesn't want to grow.

Hi there, and thank you for putting in the time to share your thoughts. Micro-managing is a big no-no. It means there's no trust — which you also brought up. No trust means deep trouble and a crucial conversation (or three) is needed right away. I wish you expanded more on the strategy piece you feel is constantly moving. Our long-term strategy and vision have always been the same (although I do admit we can do more to simplify the messaging and repeat it more frequently). Our quarterly goals have changed, every now and then, but I honestly feel that that's important. We are nimble, and we are reactive to what our customers need from us. I don't know any other way for a growing, profitable company. It's true that we tend to promote talented Engineers to the Tech Lead / Engineering Manager positions, rather than bringing in people with that experience from outside Transifex. Even our CTO has been promoted internally after 8 years with Transifex. Tech Leads have been promoted after they've been with Transifex for 4+ years. This means they tend to not have much experience managing people. But it also means they have a ton of experience in our Engineering team, our culture, our product, and our market. I don't agree with you that we have a pattern of firing people in leading positions. First, we don't share details when we're parting ways with someone — so it might be that they decided to transition to a different role on their own. Two, many of our leaders, such as in Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and Engineering teams — they've all been with the company for many years. Dimitris Glezos Founder & CEO

Pros

Transifex has an established business from years of work on our TMS for localization, but is also leading the industry in innovation for use of AI. It's exciting to get to work somewhere with this continuous innovation. The team is large enough that you're not on your own, but also small enough that you can have a real impact. It's a remote first company and I like working from home, getting to skip the commute. The culture is also great with some of the most supportive, helpful coworkers I've ever had.

Cons

Almost all regular company communication is done over Slack. It can be a great tool for a remote first company, but with so many messages on so many channels, it can be challenging to go back and find information after you initially have read it.

Hm, well, they are growing so some pains are inevitable.
