Pros

decent pay, but still not enough to make staying worth it.

Cons

1. Vector keeps acquiring more small software companies and poorly integrating them into the "One Vector" family. It's become a Frankenstein with who knows how many separate departments that don't know how to communicate, and a reporting structure/org chart that makes absolutely no sense. 2. Constantly understaffed & high turnover 3. Absolutely atrocious onboarding & training for new employees - ironic for a company that boasts itself as a training company. current overworked employees have to try to train new hires in their spare time with no guidance from managers, because managers don't understand the software or the job that their employees do. 4. No support for remote employees. Offices have parties and events, remote employees get a virtual yoga session once a month that we don't have time to attend even if we want to since there's too much work.

Thank you for your feedback. We are determined to learn from previous acquisitions and ensure that integrating them results in a “best of both” outcome. This applies to culture, structure, people and processes. The high turnover you refer to is partly because of the current jobs market. It is regularly described as the great reshuffle. There are several initiatives that have been launched to retain our people. The onboarding and employee readiness program has recently been expanded to a two-week in-person onboarding program with dedicated learning and development practitioners. All technology access, accounts and tools are provisioned and tested with the new employee on day 1 in a live session. The program includes job-specific tracks and breakout sessions with managers. Employee resource groups have been established to ensure that remote team members are included. These include groups focused on culture, wellness, philanthropy, and several others. A company culture is not owned by managers and executives and Vector is building a culture to support all employees to make them successful.

Pros

It's a job and some of the people are great, remote/hybrid work for some employees

Cons

There is literally zero incentive to work hard or even try above the bare minimum. No real career paths or progression, no bonuses, nothing. Individual goals mean nothing and do not connect to larger company goals. Leadership is feckless and has to revisit the same decision constantly or has to make a decision involving way more people than necessary which means the final decision is bloated and difficult to operationalize. The company goals are not clear at all so work priorities constantly shift to whatever leadership has most recently decided, through a committee, is most important. There is basically nothing in terms of company culture. People don't talk to each other about anything. There is no fun in Teams channels. This probably stems from all of the above, that people do not feel at all connected to the company because they know they are not going to get anything out of it. Oh, and the benefits are abysmal.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We’re sorry this has been your experience, and we take comments like this seriously. Vector is a mission-driven company serving customers in critical industries, including public safety, education, industrial, government, healthcare, and other organizations that rely on our technology to help make people safer, smarter, and better prepared. We are proud of that work and of the team members who support it every day. Vector has implemented many positive changes over the years based directly on team member feedback, and we continue to welcome input across all areas of the business. We recognize that benefits, career growth, priorities, and culture can be experienced differently by different people. We do offer a comprehensive benefits program that includes health coverage, 401k support, flexible paid time off, wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, and other resources; Growth Pathways to help team members understand career progression; and companywide initiatives such as Team Member Appreciation Week, Vector Volunteer Week, holiday events, and special commemorations to help build connection and culture. We also understand the concern around shifting priorities. Like many companies, Vector operates in an ever-changing economic landscape. As market needs evolve, we have to evaluate and adjust priorities to keep the business growing, serve our customers well, and support the team members who drive our success. We will not dismiss feedback simply because it is difficult to read. We have meaningful work, a strong team, and a lot to be proud of, but we also have work to do. We appreciate your perspective and will continue working to make Vector a better place to build a career.
