Pros

To be completely fair, I did not have an opportunity to work for Versalogic, but was offered a position to work for them. This review is about that experience and how I believe I may have dodged a bullet. Out of the 3 part interview process, 2/3 of the parts were with the person who would be my immediate supervisor, as well as the support and engineers on 2nd, and then the sales teams on the third. It sounded like a really promising, fun opportunity. I can only go by what was presented to me - I was looking forward to what seemed like a great opportunity with interesting work and a great group of people. They spent time getting to know me during some long interview sessions. I have nothing negative at all to say about any of them. If you can get past the HR/Payroll rep that does the initial interview...

Cons

BAD HR REP - She is the WRONG person for that job. So the first interview I had with Versalogic was with the aforementioned HR/Payroll rep I am taking issue with. The interview was a little bit odd because this HR rep, it seemed, had problems asking questions or completing sentences. It almost as if everything she was saying was scripted, or someone else was speaking through her, and she was repeating it. But none of anything she said was fluid. This was a little off-putting, I figured either that she might be young and is being trained, or she might have some sort of disability which hindered her ability to communicate. That's fine, I did not pry, and I worked with her through the rest of the interview. The next day, she called me back to schedule a second interview. I was grateful for the opportunity and excited. After the initial inform that they wanted me to do a 2nd interview with who would be my manager, the very next thing she said was "Now, this is what you did wrong in your interview..." ... word for word. I was a little taken aback, as I'm not used to having that sort of feedback, especially right off the bat. Usually this sort of thing can be worded differently, or timed different - such as "now in your next interview, I want to offer a few suggestions" or something along those lines. Not "THIS IS WHAT YOU DID WRONG." Again, though I wrote it up to her possibly being young or some disability, and tried to read it as her way of trying to offer some friendly feedback. That I did, and I heeded what she said and came better prepared for the following interviews and landed an offer from them. I accepted the offer, excited about the opportunity. I was not expecting others to come through. But out of left field, one did come in for another position, which was a little more in line with the type of work I had been doing before with a substantial improvement in compensation, generous benefits and possible even better stability. I was torn, as I had accepted the offer and consulted what to do with colleagues - three close friends all suggested that I do the same thing: see if Versalogic could match, or counter offer, and also get some clarity on any of the other perks I wasn't 100% sure on. So thats what I did, and contacted my only means of communicating with Versalogic the next day - I called an spoke with this same HR rep. I spoke with her, let he know of my new situation which had just come up, tried to reassure her that I was not being dishonest or jerk them around, but let her know I had been offered more and when she asked, I let her know how much more. I simply asked if Versalogic would be willing to match or meet me halfway on it just to make me feel better about staying with them (which I was likely going to do even if they could not, for other basic reasons between the jobs and my preferences). She was taken aback, kept repeating back to me what I was doing was "in very poor form" considering they had already made their offer. I kept trying to get through to her that I was not necessarily trying to renegotiate, but was looking to see if they could potentially. In addition, I looked for a few details about the job, such as whether it was at some point going to be hybrid job with some work from home (possibly maybe 1 day a week), which I believe my manager had mentioned, but I wanted to be sure of (as that was a bonus on their side if that was the case), as well as get an idea of roughly how much, if possible, employees had received with their profit sharing (she was happy to elaborate the specifics with percentages, but no specific details of dollar amounts they had awarded in the past). I had to repeatedly try to communicate to her that I'm not looking to renegotiate, I just wanted some clarification on some items and just if they'd be willing to raise the pay (which was, when I first had a conversation with her, was the minimum I quoted in my range, but not my preferred). HR Rep: "So you're trying to renegotiate your pay to (maximum amount the other offer was getting) as well as work fully remote?" Me: "NO. That is NOT what I'm asking." I had to again tell her that I was hoping they could meet part of the way (not DEMANDING it) and wanted some clarification as to whether this at one point it would be hybrid at all. "See you ARE trying to renegotiate the deal, thats what you're doing. And I have to again say this is in really poor form of you" I again tried to communicate that I was not, and instead she interrupted me. "I'm going to cut you off right there" ... another moment where I'm taken aback at her total lack of tact and rudeness. The conversation didn't improve any more after this point and she said she would reach back out to me after she had gotten a chance to speak with my hiring manager. Three hours later, she called me back, and in contrast to our conversation earlier, she actually sounded happy and friendly. "So first I want to congratulate you on getting another offer." thinking to myself: oh boy, wondering how the rest of this is going to go if shes congratulating me on THAT. "So your request for a counteroffer from has has been..." *small noticeable pause here from her* "DENIED" "In addition we are revoking our original offer to you." I thanked her for getting back to me and apologized for things not working out and wished them luck with whomever their next candidate would be. Left me wondering if this is the person they have doing the Hiring and Interviewing... did I dodge a bullet here? I tried to reach who my listed manager would have been after the first conversation via LinkedIn but was unable to get through to him unfortunately. Maybe it was for the best.

Pros

Easy Work, Lovely Employees, Great Coffee Machien.

Cons

The owner is a deranged lunatic who keeps everything and thinks it’s useful. He expects parts from 2005 to still be relevant and when errors from upper management occur, he fires the little guys and the cycle continues.
