      Enjoy the flexibility of an assistantship. Also helps pay for my tuition.

      Cons

      Work load can vary based on the professor you work for. Expectations should be clearly expressed between professor and GRA or GTA.

      Pros

      The experience was great. The PI was amazing and kind and I learned a lot, definitely would do it again. It yielded great results for me such as publication. I recommend for medical school or graduate school.

      Cons

      Difficult to justify if you don’t plan to have a research career, graduate or professional school because the pay is lower than other positions available in Blacksburg.
