Business Outlook
Pros
I was really impressed by WhyHunger's commitment to grassroots organizing. WhyHunger's history makes it an interesting organization and I think they are doing a good job in evolving their mission and vision to a focus on social and environmental justice over charity. I got the feeling in the office that everyone was there because they truly wanted to be. I learned a lot about communications in particular and non-profits in general while working directly on food justice issues. I felt like a member of the team even though I was only there for a few months.
Cons
Compensation was not bad compared to other internships but still challenging in an expensive city like New York. Part-time internships give you time to work elsewhere.
