Is this your company?

Emotionally rewarding, but little pay. - Political Canvasser Working Families Employee Review

Pros

Every day will be different, that much I can guarantee you. You get to meet people from all walks of life, and sometimes you end up changing hearts and minds.

Cons

Zero benefits, with very little pay. Maybe things have changed, but management was rather thankless, and only cared about fundraising quotas.

Pros

Overall, it's a great company with worthwhile goals and a realistic understanding of how to get them. As a canvaser, one is allowed to a great degree of personal responsibility in their work, with relatively little oversight. Basically, your supervisors drive you somewhere, you eat lunch, and you knock on doors. There's relatively little chance of failure, so it's pretty rewarding, and it's mostly older people so it's nice to see that the senile aren't always so curmudgeon.

Cons

It is VERY DISORGANIZED. There is no clock in or clock out system. There is no real training. There is relatively little job security. The supervisors can be passive aggressive and upset when unexpressed expectations are failed to be met. Meetings are held in hallways.
