Pros

The only that kept me going to work every day was the great people who made the office a pleasure to be in.

Cons

My experience at Workpays overall was very negative. In the 6 months I worked there I had 3 managers, each changing the way they wanted to work and their level of input drastically. After the first change in management after less than a month of employment, I was left to try and continue work in the department with little to no direction. After this period there wasn't even a small thanks for keeping the department running. Following this, the interim management treated me and the team quite poorly. After 1:1s I would often have to leave the office in distress and can remember several occasions where I was reduced to tears due to what they said to me. They did not trust any of the marketing team to get on with tasks, requiring every minute spent to be logged on an app. No support was ever provided, just criticism. I often received negative feedback but no support on how to improve. I was with the belief I was improving after this being mentioned often by a senior member of staff but my final change of management later claimed there was no improvement, despite knowing me for just over a week, resulting in unsuccessful probation. This interim management was one of the senior member of staffs good friends, so they were not at all approachable about this. Even though I was on an apprenticeship, I was denied the opportunity to fulfill my 20% off-the-job training, and little guidance was given from seniority. I often felt like I was putting managers out by going to masterclasses and doing any work for my apprenticeship, which is ironic for a training provider.

Thank you for your feedback, and apologies for the slight delay in replying. We appreciate the hard work of our staff and would like to thank you for your contributions. I’m sorry to hear that you had some difficult experiences during your time at Workpays. Regarding your comments about off the job training and supporting employees who are on apprenticeships; we are absolutely committed to ensuring that our staff not only get the most from their job, their provider, and their training, but also that they are given the time to complete all necessary parts of their apprenticeship. We agree with you that we have really great people at Workpays, and we are proud of our staff and the impact they have. Our managers are committed to continually making improvements, and as such would welcome further feedback regarding your experiences, which you can provide by emailing feedback@workpays.co.uk. Pros

Working with some of the team

Cons

This company is a complete letdown. Don’t be fooled by the fake smiles at the start – they’ll act nice if they can use you, but the second you hand in your notice, their true colours show. They think it’s fine to sack people on the spot with no warning, but if you give them notice, they treat you poorly. They’ll hire anyone with no experience, then expect you to pick up all the slack. Management? Non-existent. They micromanage constantly, checking every little thing you do and breathing down your neck, even when you’ve proven yourself. Confidentiality doesn’t exist – whatever you say to managers gets shared around, even to the person you complained about, and then you get dragged in and accused of “talking behind their back.” When they find out you’re leaving, they’ll pressure you for the contact details of clients you brought in and built yourself, expecting you to hand all your hard work over to people who haven’t done a thing. Refuse, and they’ll create problems. Your effort is theirs to take. No matter how much you do, it’s never good enough. The second you decide to leave, suddenly you were “never good at your job” and they’ll start putting you down. Favouritism is obvious, serious issues are ignored, the workload is insane, and they don’t give a single thought about anyone’s mental health
