Pros

- a lot of well-known brands under oath - [some] teams have [some] great people in them - for now, yahoo perks still around. until who knows when... - ad tech has a lot of potential in the marketplace

Cons

- promotion cycle - recent rewards allotment was not transparent and tends to allow managers to reward their favorites - if you're not located in the US, pretty much not able to get the same opportunities or get the short end of the stick - the AOL/Yahoo merge has been so stressful and messy. still continues to this day - some managers are just terrible but got to where they are based only on seniority/outlasting everyone else, not because they have any people managing skills nor desire to be an effective manager for their subordinates - most of the culture that yahoo had is now gone and it's just become a strange culture. one that has huge turnover and constant anticipation for layoffs

Pros

Relatively easy to get things done for a company with such a long history. Certainly not "start up" like, but processes like resource allocation have less overhead than working at a company like Google. Pay was pretty good for the midwest. I hear they are currently pretty open to remote work. It's also not the hardest place to work.

Cons

Opportunities are limited in software engineering. Since Apollo took over, SE was viewed mostly under the lens of "what is the least we can invest here to get the job done". There used to be a really good office in Champaign with lots of very talented software engineers put together. That's gone now.
