I got scammed. When I got "approved" to work on Clickworker.com and make some extra money, I was hopeful. But after seeing all the jobs posted for 4 cents, 7 cents, etc, I thought this must be another site that dodged labor laws by not being a real company but just an app. But one day a notification popped up to do a Macy's study for Clickworker for $15 a gig. I thought, ok Macy's is legitimate and this is an actual wage for my time, not free labor. And I needed money at the time. So I went to a Macy's in Manhattan and completed an extensive fragrance study, learning brands and fragrance lines, taking pictures of everything, talking to salespeople (during a busy holiday sale time), rating customer service, rating fragrances, and more. It was tedious but I am a former journalist and very detail-oriented so I collected and uploaded all the required information. I spent about an hour in Macy's then saw they needed the same work at some Macy's in Queens, so I trekked out to Queens and did more of the same at those Macy's stores. I did a total of 5 gigs for $75 and spent my whole Saturday doing it. My Clickworker balance said $75, for $15 per gig. Then a few days later it went to 0. I checked my past jobs and they all said rejected. That was it. No more explanation and no one to contact. Then I realized I wasn't dealing with a legitimate company. All I could find was a contact form on their website so I sent that in, and no reply. I found a support email and wrote to them about the job to see what was going on. No reply. Yet I keep getting notifications about new Clickworker "opportunities." What a scam. I'm honestly embarrassed I fell for this, and angry they are taking advantage of people who need money or are in a bad situation. I will be reporting them to Macy's, whom I am sure would not want to be associated with a site that feeds on people's free labor. All I can say is STAY AWAY! Don't let them profit off your free labor, and you won't make anything!
