Awesome startup environment in an established company - Software Engineer eMoney Advisor Employee Review

I've never really been able to say I absolutely love my job until now, and it's still really weird to think about how much I like going to work now. In the two or so years I've worked at eMoney I can count the number of days I woke up not feeling like going into work on one hand. I genuinely love this company. The engineering team is awesome; it's rare to be thrust into a group of people at work and find that you like all of them really sincerely. The team's incredibly smart and I feel as if I've doubled if not tripled my value and knowledge in the two years I've been at the company. I've been working with new technologies on a regular basis, had significant control over every project I've worked on and even had a few opportunities to just work on my own projects to better our environment internally. Engineers are also welcome to collaborate with management to help tune the entire development process, and they are really responsive to feedback. Immediate management on the engineering team are the friendliest, most helpful people I've ever worked for. There's a huge emphasis on culture, and the entire development team is involved in interviewing new candidates and has final say on whether or not people get hired - this means that the team is continually getting better as it grows, and I've found that I've not only had a great professional but also personal relationship with everyone that's come onto the team since I started. We're given a lot of freedom to enjoy ourselves, there's no management clock watching, and the team regularly gets together for happy hours after work, goes out to lunch in large groups, and socializes outside of work. Work life balance is great, and you start with an absolutely ridiculous number of personal days (over 20) and really are encouraged to take time off as you see fit. Nobody's ever going to question you as long as you're getting your work done. The awesome culture definitely extends to the rest of the company as well; there's tons of company-wide events, an amazing holiday party, a wing eating contest, chili cook off, company breakfast, and a company picnic. There's also free food every day; the kitchen's full of soda and snacks, and there's free breakfast ordered for employees mondays and wednesdays, soft pretzels tuesdays and thursdays, and bagels and donuts on fridays. There's keurigs all around the office with tons of coffee choices, as well. Benefits and compensation are extremely competitive, and again I can't stress enough how much I feel like I'm getting from the company both in the tangibles (perks, etc) as well as career experience. I've been involved in a lot of project planning I've never done before, I've become very familiar with the hiring process, I've done recruiting events, been supported by management and my team in giving talks at professional conferences (from having never spoken in a professional capacity before) and had opportunities to explore brand new and cutting-edge technologies in a professional context with very little of the red tape that normally surrounds rolling out new technologies. Engineers also get spoiled with resources in the office - lately, we've been getting 27" top-end Core i7 iMacs with SSDs and 2 other monitors, so most engineers have a setup of 2 22" monitors and a 27". We also have a huge library of programming books, and getting the company to order one we don't have has never even been a question in my experience. In summary, I can't stress enough how awesome eMoney is. I know this could possibly sound cheesy it's so glowing but I sincerely love my job and it's a great feeling.
