Cons

I initially hesitated to write a review, but the recent influx of overly positive reviews on Glassdoor, coinciding with the company’s funding push, prompted me to share my experience. Here’s a candid assessment: Lack of Integrity and Responsibility: The company suffers from a severe lack of accountability. Major issues, such as persistent de-identification issues, are met with a blame game rather than constructive solutions. Despite being “in the works” for years, these critical problems remain unresolved, reflecting poorly on the company’s commitment to addressing core issues. Toxic Work Environment: The work environment is toxic and characterized by favoritism. Promotions and advancements are not based on merit but on how close one is to higher-ups. This leads to significant pay inequity and positions being filled by individuals who lack the necessary experience. The resulting lack of competence in key roles impacts the company’s overall effectiveness and morale. Consequently, those in key roles often view their positions as justified and see other employees as ungrateful or lazy, which undermines team morale and effectiveness. Fickle Priorities and Inadequate HR: Higher-ups frequently shift priorities without clear direction, leading to erratic decision-making and random layoffs that disrupt team stability. The HR department is inadequate, often failing to address employee concerns effectively and contributing to the overall sense of instability. This lack of coherent strategy and support from HR further exacerbates the already toxic work environment. Core Issues and Leadership Problems: The core issue is that while there are ample opportunities for improvement, the company’s leadership—especially the uncle and nephew co-founders—are more focused on maintaining their positions and making rash, uninformed decisions to improve short-term financial appearances. This approach prevents meaningful progress and suggests that the situation will not improve until at least one of the co-founders is removed. Additionally, over-promising LinkedIn posts and exaggerated claims about achievements create a misleading image that does not align with the reality experienced by employees. The lack of willingness to adapt and address underlying issues from the top down is a major roadblock to any real change.

Pros

- Great compensation for a sophomore computer science major. - Approachable staff - Great work culture and work life balance - More freedom given to work on projects, less grunt work.

Cons

- Have to sometimes aggressively pursue higher-ups to get more work. - Less structured than a standard internship, less training and more about learning on the job (although this could be a pro to some).
