Pros

Not many… none actually come to mind

Cons

Wear and tear on personal vehicles Low pay (some cleaners were only making $12 an hour) Low raises (25 cents every 6 months for cleaners and up to $1 an hour every year for management, no one ever gets the dollar since they always find something to avoid that No benefits other than vacation time Expected to go to unsafe areas (including the projects in the city of Pittsburgh) Revolving door of employees High expectations with little to no help from upper management to obtain the expectations You will be used and abused until they are done with you UNORGANIZED Unprofessional Zero work/life balance Upper management doesn’t listen to your ideas to make things better , but shortly after will take that idea as their own and implement it The owner is obsessed with doubling the size of the company and will do anything to get there including firing employees who say they should slow down and focus on the accounts and employees that are currently there. The hiring process is extensive and long which means new hires often take other jobs offered before Environment Control gets back to them. I absolutely regret working there. Often sent to train new employees with little to no knowledge of the person you’re training New employees often aren’t given all of the correct info for the job and will quit on day one or two I could honestly go on and on but I’ll stop here

Pros

Works great as a second job; don't have to work weekends if you want; training is good; physical job so you will get a good workout; people are nice to work with.

Cons

Normally on a time budget for each account you have so time management is a skill you need to have & be good at; no benefits bc it's a part time job.

Pros

The job is easy and you have literally no one telling you anything ever…at all…about anything.

Cons

Poor training. Managers are too busy with paperwork to care. Supplies rarely get delivered and you have to call a number to have a manager bring them to you as if it’s a mystery that we need supplies! No pay for travel time which is costly even if you take the bus. The schedule is inflexible despite how HR presents it in the interview process. Managers refuse to engage in basic communication with lower level employees. I had a manager quit and no one told me for weeks. I had to email HR to find out AFTER I accidentally locked myself out of my site and failed to reach him. Then when they hire new managers none of them bother to text or introduce themselves to the employees. There are endless layers of managers who don’t seem to know what they are in charge of. No set standard for what cleaning supplies you are supposed to use. Many managers bring their own store bought cleaners because the ones the company provides don’t actually really clean. The training had nothing to do with what actually needs to get done. I had a manager tell me explicitly not to clean a whole kitchen only to have another manager two years later tell me I should have been doing it the whole time (a manager I didn’t even meet beforehand btw). Dead end job because no one cares how well you do your job unless a client complains. No opportunity for advancement or even getting more hours.

Management Tries Their Best

Pros

Work is not necessarily hard, managemnt really tries to work with you if your struggling with your schedule. My supervisor and his manager gave me all the training and tools I needed and almost always answered their phones, or got back to me as soon as they could.

Cons

Management seems overworked. If you need supplies and they are going through a busy time it can be a while, but my supervisor always apologized for the delay. Also, sometimes they don't have the exact hours you are looking for, some buildings are only an hour long, and that may be all they have available.

Great part-time job. Awful for full-time. Quantity over quality should be their motto.

I was a franchise owner operator

Pros

Christian values. Good operational management program

Cons

As an owner/operator you are really nothing more than a Branch Manager. You have no control over your pay structure, the Home Office in Idaho controls all of your money and the accounting function. Home Office is payed out of the profits, so there is constant micromanagement. If your Christian beliefs don't line up with the Home Office philosophy, it will affect the relationship. If you choose to leave as I did after a 20 year tenure, you are shunned by the inner core group. Disappointment with the exit process. Very little technical training with this company compared to other industry peers. Lack of brand recognition.
