Still terrible management, may not survive

Pros

Beware of the recent reviews; management did initiate them to counteract the slew of bad reviews (and it shows). Sadly, there are not many pros to tell about Evidence Action any more.

Cons

The organization is still losing critical staff due to incompetent management. There is a big exodus: COO, directors, managers, including IT are all out. IT systems are in shambles. Operational systems are still extremely poor, and this can not be ascribed anymore to being a 'start up' after seven years in the business. Don't believe it - this is now nothing more than management incompetence. Worst: Data security is still not dealt with and at this point, this is becoming criminally negligent. Additionally, HR has ignored complaints of sexual harassment, and in this day and age, that is just no longer ok (if it ever was). It's truly a mess there - stay far away if you value your career.

Pros

Younger employees enthusiastic and bright.

Cons

Senior team lacks management and leadership experience and deploy an authoritative and degrading tactic to avoid decision making and achieve a false sense of superiority. Arrogance borders cruelty when leadership will frustrate Subordinates by refusing to entertain new ideas only to bring those same ideas to light as new weeks later.

Pros

Pros include working with talented, highly-mission driven staff; getting to innovate and design new approaches to development; and operating in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment! The deworming and safe water programs are reaching hundreds of millions of people in Africa and India, , and it's pretty great to know you're contributing to this every day. Evidence Action does really seem to be figuring out how to take evidence-based programs to scale, consistent with the mission. That said there's more to be done to figure out how to replicate this approach across programs, and it'd be great to see some new programs emerging soon.

Cons

The scale of operations is not without its growing pains. Evidence Action's operations - HR and finance - are still catching up to its fast growth. There's new leadership in place however which seems to be taking this seriously and sees this as a priority for investment.
