I worked at Factory PR (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great roster of brands, opportunity for growth

    Cons

A bit overwhelming with such a large amount of clients.

I worked at Factory PR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As a senior level employee the pros were aplenty: very generous management team who is accessible to the staff (elaborate weekends away for the Holidays, weekly parties on a Friday with a karaoke machine, great rewards for exceptional work etc); a fun fast paced environment; a tight knit team that supports each other when the going gets tough (most employees remain friends long after they leave Factory) and a diverse and exciting roster of clients (both small and cool and big with budgets—a publicists dream). Some of the best years of my life.

    Cons

The cons of FPR are the same as an NYC PR agency - the hours can be long, the work load can sometimes feel overbearing and as with ALL agencies, sometimes you get given a client you don't love. If you can't handle those downsides, you shouldn't bother working in Agencies at all.

I worked at Factory PR part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Gained lots of valuable experience

    - Worked for big name brands

    - Great work environment/enjoyed the people I worked with

    - Close relationship to management

    Cons

There aren't any significant cons, but those looking to work at Factory should be prepared for long hours, as you are given specific deadlines that need to be met by any means necessary.

    Pros

Great clothes and brands and good experience. It's never boring at Factory. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

    Cons

Management doesn't know how to manage and they expect you to work for nothing. Expect long hours without any thank you or consideration of your personL life.

    Cons

    Pros

-not as much running around on errands as other pr internships, they actually make a point to have interns run as few errands as possible
-once you prove that you work hard, you get a number of opportunities to take charge of fun and interesting project aspects
-you are always told good job when you do a good job. no one yells or is disrespectful, and generally the entire staff is friendly and approachable, even when busy
    -very familial
    -lively, young atmosphere
    -location, right in soho

    Cons

-there were times when we were swamped with just sample check-ins and check outs and then every once in a while we would have a day with nothing to do really
-hours could be long, but not regularly
-it took a while to really learn anything about how the office performed pr and marketing functions. you really have to watch and listen and glean that information yourself since you really are not going to get the chance to actually perform a lot of those functions yourself

I worked at Factory PR full-time

    Pros

Factory is a hub of some of the most creative people in the industry, said no one ever.

    Cons

Talk about a sham of a company, I'm surprised this place is still able to keep the lights on. Oh that's right, they barely pay their employees so that's where the money must come from.

Over-promising and under-delivering, always trending. All of the good employees jump ship because this place is truly the titanic. If you value yourself and your career you will stay away. They may have a decent client roster for about 20 minutes or so, but I'm honestly not sure who jumps ship faster...clients or employees? Severely understaffed is an understatement, you should probably invest in a sleeping bag because you will never see your home again. Oh and should we discuss all of the unpaid over time and multiple weekends you will be threatened and forced to work? Probably not.

Factory doesn't build you up, it breaks you down. Everything you will learn, you will have taught yourself. I'm not sure why they offer the title "manager" because no one knows how to actually manage anything, nevermind their own teams. The management truly enjoys exploiting their employees. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Sweat-shop? No thanks, I'd rather hit the gym.

    Advice to Management

Please do the industry a favor and pack it up.
