I have been working at Foothill Family Service full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly and supportive environment. New leadership is making changes for the better.

    Cons

Some long term managers are stuck in the old way of doing things and less open to change. Clinical managers "blacklist" employees they don't like.

I have been working at Foothill Family Service full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - great coworkers that are super supportive and there for you any time you need them. - small driving radius for school visits. - a lot of food and snacks that come into the office. - great preparation for licensure. - 5 test prep days. - option for fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance. - office based visits for clients (not only field work). - mileage reimbursement

    Cons

    - pay is about average for the position, but they do tend to low ball new hires unless they’re in desperate need. - pay increase upon licensure is not automatic here, you have to meet certain criteria to be “recommended for” a raise. - your supervisor has to vouch for you to get a raise; it has to come from them, not you. - can have a lot of micro managing and feels punitive at times. - once you’re in bad standing...

    Advice to Management

Pay your workers more or have them work less. There is not a sustainable system in place which is why there is so much turn around. Within the last year how many people have moved on? There are reasons for that. Listen to all your workers. Many times things that are suggested or brought up are “taken up the ladder” but they never exact any change. If you’re going to offer summers off, and have signed off on a workers...

I worked at Foothill Family Service for more than 5 years

      Pros

Wonderful environment to work in, coworkers become your "work family". Supervisors are genuinely interested in how you're doing, employees are recognized for their hard work. Many opportunities for growth.

      Cons

I can't think of any at this time.

      Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Foothill Family Service full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Early Head Start Home Visitor: 7.5 hour work days. About 35% office time and the rest is field time. You get to plan your "office" hours and field time, although appointments need to be coordinated with the families you serve. You get to work with low income families to ensure their children are developmentally on track.

      Cons

Increase in paperwork due to the restructuring of the health department, so as a home visitor, you are also responsible for collecting physicals & immunization records for each child periodically- children get frequent Dr's visits-, administering nutrition screenings, gathering thorough health history, etc (all of which so far, is the norm for a non medical employee) AND (all of the following are newly assigned tasks...

      Advice to Management

Give proper training to employees. Onboarding is lacking in structure. A new home visitor should be trained by HR and management, NOT fellow peers. Starting pay- if I recall correctly, is about $17-$18 and some change, is simply NOT enough for the amount of work that is required. All of the chaos with paperwork and the office and low pay is what leads to such high turnover or people going on stress leave, leaving everyone...

      No opinion of CEO

I worked at Foothill Family Service for more than 8 years

      Pros

It is a positive and healthy environment to work in. The staff is great, hard working, and team players. Management is also great and great mentors.

      Cons

Staff really stay working for the organization a long time and it is very difficult to promote.

      Advice to Management

Consider revisiting staff's abilities and skills to help them promote.

I have been working at Foothill Family Service full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Foothill Family Service is rooted in "family". They are one of the most supportive, professional and comfortable workplaces that I've joined in my career. Hours are flexible, pay is competitive in most departments. Decent healthcare coverage. The people who I work with for the most part are smart, funny, caring and professional. I enjoy this job.

      Cons

At this time they only offer an HMO, I would like a PPO option even if I have to pay a portion of it.

      Advice to Management

      Keep doing what you're doing!

I have been working at Foothill Family Service full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Coworkers were very supportive of one another. They have good benefits.

      Cons

Management communicates poorly with staff. A lot of power and control issues. Managers openly share with each other how their supervisees are doing and no privacy. A lot of favortism is going on. If they don't like for some reason (which has nothing to do with your performance), they will pick on the smallest things which leads to very hostile and sressfull work environment. Very fast turnover.

      Advice to Management

Take a lot of management trainings.
