    Pros

Gulf Engineers and Consultants, Inc. is a great company which provides Civil and Environmental solutions to DOTs and private consultants alike. As an employee of the company, you get a wide variety of experience. You typically are not working on a single project, but switching gears between 2 or 3 different projects at a time. They are fairly lenient and understanding when it comes to taking VTO. The Project Leads allow the Engineer Interns to become really involved and provide them with assistance in a manner that enables them to improve their skills.

    Cons

There definitely could be more transparency throughout the company. It seems that middle management is not fully aware of the decisions that are being made by department heads. There are not quarterly meetings with an entire office that gives everyone a look into how the company is doing as far as overhead being used and project budgets.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent in the company's processes. It would be better to have an idea of the projects the company is planning to pursue and a vague idea of the strategies being implemented in order to further the company's growth.

    Pros

They are a well respected organization, and to work for them offers you the ability to work on a variety of projects. As someone just starting their career, they offer a good opportunity to work on multiple projects.

    Cons

Minimal interaction with senior staff. As a design engineer more emphasis on drafting than on design. The working environment feels very secretive.

    Advice to Management

Recommend a more friendly work atmosphere and a greater interaction with senior staff. There should be greater emphasis on technical training.
