    Cons

Its hard to get promoted unless you are in the "in-crowd".

I worked at Golf Channel part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company culture; probably the best outlet to work for in Central Florida or Florida in general if you are absolutely serious going into television, especially sports TV.

    Cons

Rounds of layoffs (whether complete or from full to part-time) in the past couple years makes me uneasy to recommend taking a job here, considering that this isn't the strongest asset in NBC Universal's portfolio. Try going for NBC Sports instead.

    Pros

The people that work in the trenches.

    Cons

One of top management's goal is to "Make Golf a Great Place to Work" but most folks that work in the trenches know that these are just words with no actions.

    Advice to Management

Quit laying off that great people that do the work and consider making some changes at the top.

I worked at Golf Channel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the people actually creating content are great!

    Cons

Management, especially middle management are horrible people. HR department does nothing but protect management despite numerous complaints and supposed outside, unbiased third party reporting system. Nepotism, Ageism, Discrimination Issues throughout company. BAD managers who actually do little while others work hard and long to get content to air. Lots of management's :friends" making good money and getting great raises while majority passed over. Upper management simply does not care.

    Advice to Management

Stop pretending it is a great place to work because it isn't for anyone but management.

I have been working at Golf Channel full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Golf perks, GOLF swag, tons of friendly people in the business happy to help you grow, enjoy being part of the NBC family of networks. Best part of work is the casual Fridays, sometimes allowed to wear your favorite jersey. Triple check with your manager first.

    Cons

Long days, sometimes work on the weekends. Be prepared to deal with traffic home from work.

    Advice to Management

    Be patient with employees.

I worked at Golf Channel (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are sound and there are still some really good people working there, personally and professionally.

    Cons

Very sexist and discriminatory. Dramatic changes in management 2 years prior to my leaving truly ruined what used to be a great place to work. Current middle management does not have the best interests of the employees at heart. They make it so that it is virtually impossible to advance and grow within the company. It is very much a "boys club." Salaries are way behind the times with regard to accepted industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Reassess your middle managers and start caring about the employees that truly make the place run. Provide for growth and a better path for their future.

I have been working at Golf Channel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generous time off, some good associates, overtime, decent technology, good if you like golf.

    Cons

Sweatshow type labor mentality, Micromanagment, Favotism, Questionable language, Weak Pay, Managers that do not belong in their positions supervising you.

    Advice to Management

I thought this would be a fun place to come into and work however this is one of the worst and most toxic places I have ever worked in my life. That is not a joke, literally the worst place I have worked. No advancement opportunities, lots of favortism, language about men/women that is disgraceful constantly being put in the work place. Oh, an the time off they preach about, forget using it, the managers joke about how busy they will keep you so you can't use your time off. It's one of the most unprofessional places you could put your self into in my opinion! I do not have any direction under the CEO of this company but he is the one that is in charge of this company. It starts at the top and there is no sign of there being any adjustments hence the rating of his leadership.
