I have been working at Gulf Power as an intern

    Pros

Great place to work, fair compensation. Had the ability to learn new skills and pretty much make my own schedule.

    Cons

Position no longer exists due to cutbacks.

I have been working at Gulf Power full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are fantastic! Pay is good too compared to the area.

    Cons

It’s definitely a company. You do feel a bit processed sometimes.

    Advice to Management

They are doing good for what they are but it would be nice to have a little more real and a little less politics. The recent layoff has also been a real damper. I might have a bit of a skewed opinion due to how recent this took place.

I worked at Gulf Power full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Very family oriented. Only left to go be a stay at home mom.

    Cons

Most position will require a four year degree even if you have 25+ years of experience and know more than a person with a degree

I worked at Gulf Power full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a good paying job and you were treated well. The management staff took the time to listen to any concerns and were quick to respond.

    Cons

Having to walk over 10 miles a day under all weather conditions. You were often challenged with areas that made you feel uncomfortable and unsafe as well as animals that had potential to harm. There were some Saturdays when it was mandatory to work. This proved difficult when completing a college degree.

    Advice to Management

Continue to treat your employees well and respect the work they perform. Many of these jobs are performed under adverse conditions and it helps to feel appreciated.

I have been working at Gulf Power (More than a year)

    Pros

    The people and work environment

    Cons

When you're not a permanent employee, trying to become permanent is a bit of a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes a good worker is right I front of your eyes and letting the technicalities of "required testing" will cause you to get rid of valuable employees

I worked at Gulf Power full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for Gulf Power Co. for & years. They do a great job of employee inclusion and there are several paths of advancement. They make each employee feel like a contributor and have all but eliminated the good ol' boy network. Its definitely a great career opportunity no matter what division you work in.

    Cons

Not too many cons to speak of. Every employee has some suggestions for tweaks here or there no matter the company but nothing major comes to mind with Gulf

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at Gulf Power as an intern

    Pros

Loved the community they established and they reward you for hard work. They take care of their employees and gave me interesting work that allowed me to see a great scope of the department. Would definitely recommend working for this company! Plus Pensacola is a beautiful city.

    Cons

You will spend a lot of time in a cubicle but that comes with most jobs.

I worked at Gulf Power full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Company and very family oriented. Compensation is near industry standard for a power utility company. I would highly recommend this company if your looking a challenge as Electrical Engineer.

    Cons

Sometimes you may have to work long hours to complete tasks. So you must be very thorough and diligent.
