Pros
From the very first day of employment, Harry Jho gives Analysts an inside look into some of the most prominent hedge funds and Wall Street banks in the industry. Harry Jho also prepares Analysts with all the tools necessary to succeed at the firm, beginning with a multi-month securities finance training program that includes direct mentoring from other Analysts and senior staff.
The more an Analyst works to understand the prime brokerage and derivates concepts, the more complex negotiations that Analyst is able to undertake. As a result, that Analyst has the opportunity for increased communications with investment bank or hedge fund clients, and in some cases the ability to work onsite at these clients. Further, successful Analysts have had a number of different opportunities for career advancement, including progressing to senior levels within the firm, pursuing law or graduate-level degrees and transitioning to a hedge fund or investment bank client.
Between working alongside attorneys at the firm that have decades of experience and industry knowledge and working with a number of leading firms in the prime brokerage and derivatives space, Harry Jho is a fantastic place to begin a career and build relationships in the securities finance industry.
Cons
The extraordinarily high level of detail required and tight deadlines that need to be met in order to provide a successful and error-free work product to demanding clients may not be for everyone. In addition, long hours may often be necessary as there are typically many live negotiations being undertaken at the same time.
The culture tends to lack social interaction among employees outside of training and working on negotiations.
