    Pros

Team worked well together. Everyone got along but there were some tense moments. Okay place to work for a while.

    Cons

Sometimes the day were long and communication was not always the best. One person would say one thing and someone else would say another.

    Advice to Management

Work on communication and have a clear and discussed idea of what you want to do. Send paycheck faster. I always had to wait forever.

    Pros

Fridays end early and you can see the Statue of LIberty from the parking lot. Occasional free food. Payday is Thursday.

    Cons

The worst full time regular job I've had in my adult life. They work you to the bone for low pay. Some of the managers try to do their jobs, but get no help from other managers who are either horribly lazy or incompetent, or just straight up crazy. Most of the regular workers' morale is low, and more than half are miserable. Unless you keep kosher, there's no breakroom and the kitchen is downstairs. Many many other cons, too numerous to list. Just stay away unless you are desperate, and if you do take the job, do not stop looking for other opportunities and plan to get out as soon as you can.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees. Listen to them, respect them, and help them out before they all leave. Does it not make a difference to you that you don't have enough employees to do the job, and people keep walking out in frustration?

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Home Essentials full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Evaluations are not structured, so don't expect an annual performance appraisal due to the lacking HR structure. Leadership varies from Dept. to Department, a free for all. There is the work from home option if you can not get to work which is monitored.

    Cons

There is a never ending list of high priority projects and heavy work load that have no follow through or organization with insufficient resources.. The company only acknowledges 3 Federal Holidays- Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day the rest comes out of your personal/sick days (5) ! The company is also lacking a desirable benefits package, it's minimal.

    Advice to Management

There is no established HR Department with Employee and Management guidelines or interview structure. Every department head does their own thing resulting in a work 90% and life10% ratio and expect to be accountable for events out of your control.

I worked at Home Essentials part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This job allows easy work inside of a mall conveniently located near the food court and the workers there are really relaxed.

    Cons

Offered minimum wage to start then realized they pay below minimum wage to all workers. Did not realize half of the workers there are working on a tourist visa. No benefits or even employment insurance. Place is not safe or healthy..there's a microwave in the bathroom and the space is limited to work in.

    Advice to Management

Should really start to oblige/read up on to laws and regulations in Ontario/Canada as there are too many violations regarding the health, safety, labor laws.
