I have been working at Infrastructure Engineering (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work hours, good pay, good benefits, and good people to work for

    Cons

As a construction inspector, learn computer aided drafting and design because you can work in the office during non construction season

    Advice to Management

See that construction inspectors get training in computer aided drafting and engineers get their license

    Pros

    variety of work assignments
    nice insurance package

    Cons

    employees blindsided by layoffs
a lot of favoritism shown in work assignments and pay
    extremely poor work/life balance
    poorly managed company

    Advice to Management

the high turn over rates need to be addressed. if employees were treated with respect, they might stay around long enough to make the company a profitable one. every employee who leaves or gets booted out is sending out the message that IEI is not a good place to work. if you do not start treating people better, you will not be able to hire good, qualified employees.

    Pros

Employees at non management level are tight like a family.
    Flexible hours.
    Decent insurance packages.

    Cons

Lack of technical strength overall as a company.
Hard for an out of school engineer to learn without much guidance. I didn't learn much besides putting plans together and doing paperwork, while most of my peers at other places learned how to design roadways, stormwater systems etc.
Poor time management and planning. Sometimes I have to work late or over the weekends at last minute notice because someone forgot there was a deadline approaching.
    Not much room for advancement.
