Pros

Only company that has recipricated the effort, dedication and sweat equity I put into it on equal level. This is not an easy feat to accomplish as my devotion to my choosen field of work is exceptionally high. It's very much a group of people that mirror that ideals of its chief. High character, talented and compassionate people that have no time for politics and "I above you" attitudes. This results in a working environment of trust and empowerment with the result being progress at speeds that can only exist when done this way and with no compromise to your core values. As a company it practices (internally) what it preaches (externally).

Cons

It would be difficult for anyone to come from any other situation to this at first. It is unlike anything else I've experienced in the last almost two decades of working in support and cs. We define ourselves by what we have done and how we did it. To work successfully at Insight Timer you need to let go of how you did things before and in some cases how you think they should be done. The speed of change can be difficult to keep up with when you are not somewhat involved in it either directly or tangentially but this is acknowledged, understood and is continuing to improve.

CEO creates a very toxic environment

Pros

-Things move very quickly -Really promising app with lots of happy users -Pay is competitive -Mostly great people in the company

Cons

There are no designers or product managers, the CEO (Christopher Plowman) tries to do everything himself, resulting in constant organizational chaos and extremely inefficient processes. He can be very irrational and impatient meaning that everyone that works with him needs to be a yes man at all times. This has a trickle down effect that breeds a very toxic culture. There are frequent late nights and weekend work required to keep him happy and it turns into a blame game when things go wrong.

Dada Bhagwan observed that "though others have a right to criticise you, you shouldn’t criticise others". He’s right... and we shouldn't be discouraged by anonymous keyboards, no matter how much they're designed to hurt. Start-ups almost always have rational intent (a belief system or mission) and irrational processes (resources and funding). What binds these two opposites? Happiness. Do you laugh a lot in meetings? Are you proud of your work? Can you be yourself? Spend time with our team and you’ll see laughter and authenticity all day long. For some people happiness also means autonomy, and at Insight Timer this is unavoidable. Our Android and iOS teams are responsible for the meditation practice of 7.5 million people. Our Community managers are responsible for translating our mission to many more around the world. And our customer support team responds to thousands of people around the clock while the publishing team nurtures 4,000 teachers and musicians. Being impatient for change is what drives us. It gets us up in the morning. It creates energy, buzz and momentum. It leads to refinement and better ways of doing things. We have so little time to prove that commercial and conscious objectives can co-exist. Time is everything. Companies normally measure happiness with Retention. Do team members choose to stay or do they go? If you’re compassionate, talented and impatient for change, come join Insight Timer. There are many more of us who choose to stay.

Pros

Really good product to help people meditate

Cons

Very fast paced and stressful environment, work hours are ridiculous, micro management, no designers only the CEO who takes all the decisions and gets irritated very easily if things aren't done the way HE wants. Huge turnover...
