I have been working at Inter Pipeline full-time

    Pros

Excellent office space. Great facilities and of course a $30K coffee machine, what more could you ask for.

    Cons

Dreadful. Internal politics are beyond any scale imaginable. The core values at this company count for nothing. There is no integrity amongst operations management, with a continuous power struggle between Ops and Project Engineering. All in all maintain status quo and your good, rock the boat, say goodbye to any form of advancement or recognition. Beware raising any points on management as it will not end well.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up.

I have been working at Inter Pipeline full-time

    Pros

Heavy workload; a company going for the level of growth IPL is hoping for is bound to have a heavy workload Diverse teams with strong managers; managers, for the most part, don't hire a team full of people like themselves which keeps them honest and on their toes People

    Cons

Heavy workload; sometimes one catches themselves in autopilot while trying to keep up with how busy it can get

    Advice to Management

Continue to put a focus on mental health and well-being of your employees and you'll do just fine; you're building something great

I have been working at Inter Pipeline full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

+ young work force, good energy, + great work-life balance + competitive compensation + growing company with lots of opportunity for those who are smart, work hard and passionate about their field + challenging but fulfilling work

    Cons

+ a company that grows this quickly is bound to face some culture challenges during transition; there are some who just want to complain instead of being a part of the solution + certain groups are more reactive than proactive

    Advice to Management

+ continue the work you are doing to develop a unified culture across all departments, really enjoy working here. looking forward to what the future holds at Inter Pipeline.

I have been working at Inter Pipeline full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

IPL has been incredible to work for. I have been able to work on some one of a kind projects and have had many opportunities. Many leaders have acted as a mentor to me and i have been able to make great connections in other departments. There are so many opportunities to get involved with volunteering and extra curriculars such as Inn from the Cold, The Alex, and participating in Corporate challenge and other events...

    Advice to Management

Anita vp legal, is stellar and made a great impressions on me although I've only had a few interactions with her she seems to be one of the top executives who care about the employees and the culture and getting involved

I have been working at Inter Pipeline full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Competitive compensation and benefits. - Some co-workers are great. - Excellent office facilities.

    Cons

    - No work-life balance with unreasonable expectations. - Too many politics resulting in an extremely toxic work environment. - Terrible management with a lack of communication between departments. - No employee development or career progression.

    Advice to Management

When the CEO has to address our management and leaders and say "don't be an ahole" at an employee town-hall, you have to realize the seriousness of the issue .

    Pros

Got to take service truck home and pay and pension were decent.

    Cons

Very poor organization skills, terrible leadership, lots of back stabbing and drama. Family life doesn’t matter to them. I have never seen a company fire so many people, 12 in the last 3 years that I can think of and it didn’t make it any better. Moral has gotten worse.

    Advice to Management

Get new seniors in Sherwood park office for the field staff. It is a depressing place to work. You can’t trust your leaders there at all. People don’t want to say anything because they fear for losing there job. Get some leaders who care about there guys not just say they do.

I worked at Inter Pipeline full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, great pay, flex days, vacation (which you are going to make up for once you take them)

    Cons

No worklife balance Company first, family second. Dont treat their staff like human beings. Management has serious issues. Keep an eye out on the job boards (indeed) and you will notice the same departments that have been continually restaffing the same positions over and over again for years! Pretty obvious to figure out which depatments have the highest turnover in the company. People are either fired (seniors...

    Advice to Management

Look at the common denominators over the history of these departments to see where the real problem lies. Not hard to figure out.

I worked at Inter Pipeline full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The industry and some co-workers are amazing

    Cons

Politics, games, lack of trust in management decisions was getting too hard to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Question who you are promoting. If you can suck up to the right people, you'll make it far. If you're genuine and work hard, find another company who values honesty and integrity. The values don't exist in this company anymore.

I worked at Inter Pipeline full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - flex days - RRSP contributions

    Cons

    - slow decay of corporate culture and values - decrease in compensation and benefits (pssst....recession is over) - no care for employee development or retention - toxic environment to work in Bottom line: You'd be better off as a door greeter at Walmart than working here.

    Advice to Management

None. They are too far gone to even care.
