    Pros

    wonderful staff, environment and energy

    Cons

    dealing with upset customers who are always upset over the same things-- no one answers the phones, long wait times on weekends. things that could easily be updated on the website or fixed with more staffing.

    Do not reduce employee perks and increase employee demand simultaneously.

    Pros

    The people I worked with were good.

    Cons

    Corporate is full of people who have no clue what they are doing and are extremely condescending and trashy. Regional Management is just as bad, as there are only 2 of them them and they little to no idea what they are doing. The company never says thank you let alone reward management in any way, and the owner could barley be bothered to say more than "thanks i guess" on a year end call to all general managers at the end of 2016.

    Advice to Management

    Get you act together or you will continue to have HIGH turn over.

    Pros

    If you are passionate about racing and want to share that with others, this would be the ideal place. You get 3 free weekly races.

    Cons

    Higher management has no leadership and is very disorganized, they try to get each other fired and have "teams". The owner listens to the wrong people. The company does not care about their employees. There is no training and no uniformity. The marketing is horrible and managers are held accountable for when business is slow. Managers get decent pay but there's only so much that can be done with the staff getting low pay and only allowed part time hours. Because of the high prices, customers tend to complain easily about their race and want refunds/free stuff. Karting is fun but you do not want to work here.

    Advice to Management

    Get to know your staff / employees and treat them like humans instead of numbers. Start practicing what you preach and lead by example. Higher management should come from within, somebody who knows how to run a center; hiring people that want to transform a karting center into a multi-attraction entertainment venue is wrong.

    Pros

    K1 offered a very fun and energetic environment to work in. Schedule is usually pretty flexible because there are so many operators.

    Cons

    K1 at times is like a revolving door in the manner that most employees do not stick around very long due to poor management. K1 is so focused on growing so fast, it seems the existing center issues are always pushed to the back. Customer can be very rough on track operators when they are not following rules.

    Advice to Management

    Really focus on listening to employees more, especially the ones who are in the trenches doing the work. Improve marketing techniques to bolster business, and not just putting up 1 billboard.

    I worked at K1 Speed full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    K1 Speed was my favorite job. The atmosphere is fast paced and keeps you busy. The managers at the Indianapolis location were great! Most of my co workers were wonderful people as well. The schedule is flexible. As a cashier supervisor the pay was decent, you are paid a base pay and tips & commissions based off of the race packages you sell.

    Cons

    The corporate level management is terrible, most of all the upper level positions are filled by men. The regional managers are rude and disrespectful to everyone at the center. The company is sexist, they will not hire a female track worker or a male cashier There are only a handful of women that work in upper management and they are mostly traveling trainers, corporate sales and, HR. The new policies they are putting in place are not good ones, they have not thought them through to see the bigger picture. Also the centers are only closed one day a year, Thanksgiving, yes they are open on Christmas. The insurance is expensive and doesn't cover a lot.

    Advice to Management

    The facility managers did a great job with what they were given. The corporate people need to get it together though.

    Fun environment. Kris Barrera was my manager. I loved him!!!

    Cons

    Not enough money not enough hours. You have to clean toilets. TOO MANY SCREAMING KID'S COME IN WITH PARENTS WHO DONT WATCH THEM.

    Advice to Management

    TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES BETTER!!!!!!!!

    Pros

    Fun and exciting atmosphere, always on your toes, get to meet new and interesting people everyday and a very nice bonus program.

    Cons

    Not much of a personal life, only one day off a year (Thanksgiving), communication with corporate can be frustrating

    Advice to Management

    Work hard and you won't have any issues with corporate...at times they even thank you for your hard work!

    Easy work with only a few responsibilities. Managers will make or break your experience with this company.

    Cons

    Managers don't have a lot of say in the new policies and operations that get passed down the chain. This can be good or bad but in my case, it was consistently bad and hurt team morale and productivity.

    Advice to Management

    Let your team help build the company and give them the power to enhance the guest experience.

    Pros

    Good benefits, friendly staff, decent salary.

    Cons

    Long days, late nights, high employee turnover, poor vacation policy, forced to operate with a skeleton crew.

    Advice to Management

    Allow managers to have more of a say in reservations. Don't skimp on labor, it is impossible to effectively run the center with the allocated labor hours.
