I have been working at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible working hours, opportunity to work on a team consisting of two attorney's, a litigation paralegal, case managers (4 total) and a settlement clerk. The attorney's on my team are very supportive and lead by example.

    Cons

Sometimes computer issues arises, but the IT team are very quick to resolve in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

I think the Management team is on the right track overall with how the firm is operating which is evident by their growth and overall successes.

I worked at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

lots of PTO, great co-workers, fair HR dept.

    Cons

rules only apply to some, "the kids" get all the good cases, some people get away with murder, we made less money every year, health insurance would go up way more than the 2% raise we got. Certain people get to work flex time even though it was expressly forbidden by Ken himself. No real Christmas bonus. People are quitting left and right.

    Advice to Management

Give employees and actual raise. Show some real appreciation. Get rid of those AWFUL work stations.

I have been working at KENNETH S. NUGENT for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good vacation time, coworkers are mostly nice. Miserable, but nice

    Cons

Too many to list. Management is a nightmare, horrible training, like almost nonexistent, by 2 people who have 0 organization or even know how to do the job

    Advice to Management

You are clueless as to what is going on, or how the failures start with you. No amount of advice will help

I have been working at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time

    Pros

Decent paying job Awesome Christmas gathering

    Cons

The attorneys don't really work for the clients, they work for the firm. That said, they're often finding ways to manipulate clients out of more money. Most of the attorneys see our clients who are mostly african american with little to no income as stupid and beneath them and easy to take advantage of. I've watched attorneys try to manipulate a client, get caught and lash out at the client. At first glance, you think they are helping people who otherwise couldn't help themselves but they're not...they're preying on them for their on gain...they ignore them, until they feel they are useful to them and charge 40%, plus sign on fees $75, and recently added copying cost for every sheet of paper they have to print for you case another way to take advantage of ppl.

    Advice to Management

Remember the reason this firm was started to actually provide access to legal services. Stop this predatory charging and be fair with clients and finally, take care of your employees...not just the ones you see...but all of them.

I have been working at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time

    Pros

They give you the autonomy to work your case load as you see fit.

    Cons

No support from upper management. If have a grievance, but are not a part of the family circle, it would be best to keep it to yourself. Also, you do not have the freedom do manage your staff. The staff can be openly insubordinate to their supervisors, and continuously under perform, without any fear of consequences.

I have been working at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

All Attorneys I've worked for so far have been great. They really do right by the clients. Also, flexibility is great and if you do your job efficiently and correctly, you aren't micro managed.

    Cons

Special treatment of some employees make it more difficult to do your own job because you have to do theirs too. Family friends that are NOT qualified are given positions and do not have to abide by the same rules or working standards. It makes it an unhealthy work environment.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees that do a great job, when they tell you there's a problem, look into it and fix it.

I worked at KENNETH S. NUGENT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed environment, Flex time sort of, no micro-management, private offices for employees with direct dial phone numbers.

    Cons

Attorneys do next to none of their own work, ZERO appreciation from management and attorneys, no HR dept., NEPOTISM, favoritism, some employees get to come and go as they please, too many youngish employees that like to gossip and start drama, absolutely no one to go to if you have a problem or an issue that needs to be addressed.

    Advice to Management

get a REAL HR person and have the firm policies apply to ALL employees, even the family of the owner.
