Rampant cronyism and no administrative support

Pros

Pretty good health insurance benefits.

Cons

Just look at the other reviews here. This was easily the least responsive administrations I've ever worked for. Not only are two high level managers in a flagrant relationship that violates the county's own policies, but they actively work to undermine rights and representation for their LGBT+ cohorts. Director had a very "let them eat cake" attitude and the system has bled so much talent out in the last three years it is *shocking*. Meanwhile, Lee County HR pats itself on the back for a job well done and does absolutely nothing to address these issues.

Pros

Any pro is overshadowed by the huge negatives.

Cons

Administration hides downtown as they dictate to branch managers policies they refuse to put in writing (we were told NOT to discuss matter by email or internal chat due to open records rule) because administrators know policies violate fundamental freedom of access. No displays featuring LGBTQ+, RACE, POLITICS or RELIGIOUS subjects. We were told "If we don't hide what is in our stacks, then the Commissioners will interfere with what books we are allowed to purchase." The following positions have left the system within the last 16 months - Assistant Director, 3 District Managers, 5 Branch Managers (in a 13 branch system), multiple librarians, unknown number of Associate/Assistant Librarians, District level Youth Services Coordinator, ILL supervisor, Digital Services Manager, Fiscal Manager and others. The talent bleed is real. Current administration is wasting tax dollars and opportunity by ignoring their own policies and hiding behind "fear of standing up for equity and inclusion". You will experience no communication from administration unless you question policy, then the communication will be in the form of reprimand.
