Pros

- Monthly stipend for food - Stock options (if you make it past 1 year cliff date) - Covered Health insurance for employee.

Cons

- gut wrenching startup environment- be prepared to answer pings after working hours, weekends, family events, etc. - Poor work life balance- company says they offer "unlimited PTO" but if you try to use it, they will flag you and discourage you from taking it. - Constant micromanagement by supervisor, even for remote position - Many meetings to fill up your calendar despite lack of productivity. - Company will not hesitate to cut people in order to offer higher pay for incoming talent. - Company will discriminate against you if your miss work due to religious reasons. - Company will nickel and dime you for any expenses claimed.

No executive leadership, weird corporate structure

Pros

Some nice people work there. Good idea in theory. Remote work options Solid customer support team that carries the company.

Cons

No executive team. Experienced leadership is desperately needed across the board—especially for the engineering team, which has a surprisingly high attrition rate. The company needs to spend a lot more time on technical product development to get accounting right the first time. Hounding users to pay the company back for Level’s funding errors is not a good customer experience. The other reviewers who noted that the CEO micromanages are spot on—he has no prior experience leading a tech company, and that becomes apparent pretty quickly. Murky corporate structure. “Level, Inc” is not actually a licensed business (at least not in CA)—it’s just an umbrella name used to encompass multiple other businesses (Level Benefits, Inc, Level.com Insurance Agency, Level Administrators), which is weird. There’s no transparency into how these entities work together or why it’s structured that way.

Pros

None, really. The product is a good idea. After that, nothing.

Cons

The company is run like a Banana Republic; management style most closely resembles an amateurish cronyocracy where the coin of the realm is toadyism and ability to reverberate the CEO's world view in a very second world kind of way. The cliquey cabal protects its own and contrary viewpoints and their proponents are systematically shut down. Most of the effort expended among staff is engineering their political machinations and self-awareness is non existent.
