Pros

-Learned a lot through autonomy and learning the hard way. -Worked on a variety of clients and types of projects. Gained a range of experience. -Truly enjoyed working with team members; they are genuine and talented. -The agency provides high quality artwork and services - proud of that.

Cons

-Culture of fear - management uses fear to try to motivate rather than benefits and incentives. -Lack of communication - usually did not know where my performance stood. When I did receive feedback it was mostly negative. -Unclear and unreasonable expectations that continuously change. -Processes changed often, without proper communication to staff. Changes did not improve issues, only made it more frustrating because management didn’t take time to listen to staff. -Teams work in silos under different management styles. -No clear or consistent understanding of the agency’s brand or values across the company. -Poor decisions made based on favoritism and family relationships. -Low morale because of management’s effect on staff. -No proper HR department. This makes situations very confusing and difficult when it comes to time off and personnel issues. -No respect for work/life balance. -Unsatisfactory benefits - have to bargain for time off and it could be taken away on short notice because of management’s plans. -Expected to work long hours with no extra compensation or recognition. -No sick or personal days. -No annual reviews given after 2 years of employment. -No guarantee of a compensation review/increase - even when you get a review, you have to fight to get it scheduled. Not timely or consistent.

Pros

There's always cranberry juice in the fridge and you get to work in a relaxed office.

Cons

For being an advertising agency, my creativity limits were extremely restricted and controlled. The language barrier from one of the partners is also an issue and carries over in the work that is produced. It's also a bit of a struggle when a good portion of the company is related to one another. I do not see this company going anywhere in the near future.

Pros

There were some really great people working here.

Cons

Definitely see the review called "Challenging" for a descriptive and accurate review. There are agencies where there's collaboration, and there are agencies solely run by the account side. Lightstream is the latter. With a few exceptions, many AEs had no agency/marketing experience before working here and had complete run of the show. Despite having many talented people, their work and input were generally disregarded or at least vetoed. It's unfortunate because many of them could really have made the agency shine. Overall, the thinking was completely backwards and thoughtful strategy was barely used - instead campaigns were tired, based on industry examples/competitors, and/or reused from client to client. The outright disrespect of many employees was appalling. Everything is siloed, and there's no productive communication or communication at all at times- despite being in the communications industry. And favorites, favorites, favorites! Plus, poor investments abound. But if you want to work where the partners and their spouses are head honchos/given promotions and take over positions, this is the place to go! Also it'd be interesting to see how their rating here ever changes if current employees weren't asked to write them vs anyone independently deciding to write them.
