I worked at MPW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

MPW is a good company to work for. I resigned from MPW because I found an opportunity to be closer to home. The manager is very knowledgeable and most of the employees are willing to help when it is needed.

    Cons

Perdiem rates are low and travel requirements were more than I wanted.

    Advice to Management

Best manager I ever worked for.

I have been working at MPW (More than a year)

    Pros

Work independently, flexible working hours but they end up working you all hours of the night.

    Cons

Not paid time and a half for over time, paid half time. Hours clocked mysteriously disappear from time sheets. Very little support or training from the company. Per Diem is below par, you have to justify every meal while traveling, mileage is paid at .30 mile, very poor management, this company is only good for gaining experience and leaving.

Union shops schedule in seniority regardless of work ability or aptitude
Waiting 3 months for uniforms when you get some serious crap on your clothes
Always feeling like you will be replaced soon

    Advice to Management

Let your competent employees know they are wanted and appreciated
Look for the lack and slack and get rid of them they drain the morale of the crew and cause jobs to last longer

I worked at MPW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company in terms of giving chances. They were willling to hire a lot of "new" people who started in the software developing industry.

    Cons

Pay is not up to par. Very poor at planning. They don't use business analysts correctly.

    Advice to Management

Not much, pay what you think an employee should be paid and valued at (don't try to undercut them). Also try to utilize business analysts more for requirements gathering. They have more insight in the business than team leads and software developers.

I have been working at MPW full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of work and you get paid decent amount of money and a great group of people to work with.

    Cons

If you are not on the top of the seniority list in the union there is no guarantee that you will work.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like they are human beings and not rented mules. Don't talk down to them like they are all stupid and uneducated. Treat them how you want to be treated.
