I worked at Maga Design Group part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at Maga Design was a great experience. All of the people were interesting and engaged in their work. It was a gorgeous office.

    Cons

Communication was difficult sometimes and if you didn't have headphones the office was pretty loud. Also some personalities clashed between coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the youth and culture of the office that makes Maga Design such a great place to work. Keep expanding and looking for the new talent that will take the company to the next level.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Maga Design Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are dozens of projects, so there's no way you can get bored. Happy hour every Friday is also sponsored by the company. Most people are helpful and approachable with fun personalities of the clock, too.

    Cons

Upper management has characters that shouldn't be leading teams. Too many "leaders" really don't know how to manage a team, give constructive feedback, and nurture talent when they see it.

    Advice to Management

Instead of spending money on happy hours, spend it on sending your "leaders" to leadership boot camps/conferences/etc. They are overdue knowing the basics.

I worked at Maga Design Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee culture and work life balance are important to this team. Managers and employees are all intelligent, design-thinking people who love their work.

    Cons

Start-up culture, lack of formal / standardized practices. Great environment for some, particularly those with entrepreneurial mindsets, but not ideal for others.

    Pros

    Benefits, Pay, Equipment, Company Outings.

    Cons

Open office is horrible for introverted professionals. Lacks room for learning/isn't a core value.

    Advice to Management

Appoint tech leadership to train and review code for products to perfect deliverables.

I have been working at Maga Design Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, interesting work, company is growing and expanding into new interesting areas

    Cons

Most of the work is government contract, which is frustrating and boring. Kind of a disconnect between DC and the other offices. CEO is ADD, meaning one week there will be a big push to start something new and the next week it's completely forgotten.

    Advice to Management

    Follow through

I worked at Maga Design Group full-time

    Pros

The culture at Maga is everything, the place a lot of emphasis in maintaining this through organized after work activities, a great office design and incorporating it into the annual review process.

    Cons

There isn't a clear career path, arbitrary promotions, it is difficult to acquire necessary training - success depends on how much of a self-starter you are, and how well you can juggle a number of different, very unrelated projects.
