I have been working at Main Line Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good learning experience, great reputation. Got hired fairly quickly. Pay is decent, free parking. Fellow employees are nice, we're all stuck here together.

    Cons

Acuity not taken in to account for staffing, managers are window dressing, teaching hospital and some residents are clueless and will lie to cover. Would like to transfer but you have to wait 15 months!

    Advice to Management

I have been an inpatient staff nurse for over 15 years, and Lankenau is one of the most disorganized places I have ever seen.

I have been working at Main Line Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pros that I have endured would be continuity of care. I have worked with the same people for over ten years. I have the opportunity to speak with families and friends of my patients. Also, I had the ability to see them at their worst and transform to their healthiest state before leaving

    Cons

I have a newly obtained Associate degree in nursing, however there are no open positions for me on my unit

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a good job

I worked at Main Line Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most days off approved by managers, pay is good. Financial problems brought on by bad moves like building a huge ED and the Heart Pavilion a few years ago. There has to be patients to fill them with. They just close units to compensate.

    Cons

Management are puppets to the higher level of administration which doesn't help the nurses. Dangerous nurse/patient ratios. They closed half of the observation unit and there were no other jobs posted. Oh well, time to find another job. Mandatory down staffing makes it hard to feed your family. Staff education is a low priority. Most departments are really overworked and stretched to their limits.

    Advice to Management

Hospitals are not hotels, so stop advertising them like they are and making patients think they are at a luxury spa. Invest in staff education and get back in touch with the people below you, not above you.

I have been working at Main Line Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great healthcare benefits and PTO. The staff that works with the patients (therapist, nurses, etc) really care and do great work.

    Cons

Overworked staff, low morale, never able to actually use your PTO, high productivity rates, horrible inpatient therapy management. No bonuses and minimal raises if any

    Advice to Management

I am scared the direction Bryn Mawr Rehab is going. Care more about your employees and less about the money. Bring back the old Bryn Mawr Rehab. When I started it was a great place to work.
