Pros

Lots of OT, you learn and build mental toughness. You will eventually laugh when you hear other people complain about their jobs and problems. You will handle them with ease after this job. It's actually a great lesson, if you can get through this, you can handle anything. If you have what it takes, I'd recommend it, but if you have what it takes, you already learned this. On the other hand, it is kind of funny to watch people crack and fold under pressure.

Cons

You have money with all of the OT. You have no free time though. Doesn't pay hourly people OT to wake up and chase trucks at 2 am even when they already have 40 hours. They get a normal 8 hour day (9 - 5), then work from home in the middle of the night for free off the clock.

Pros

Decent insurance benefits/ 401k plan/ pay plan cold locker processing runs very well/ very clean Management seems to understand processes

Cons

High turn over in every department. Owner has a bad temper and screams constantly. Needs to take a ethics and management course. Makes decisions on a whim and constantly expects everyone to multi-task Then he will change his mind almost daily. Constantly threatens employees with their job as a motivation to perform. Owner tries to run todays business based on yesterdays concepts and technology. CFO makes decisions out of area of expertise in order to keep owner focused and business running Transportation is unreliable. Drivers do not show up or make timely deliveries. Too many decisions made by uneducated staff

Leadership needs improvement

Pros

The processing services are extremely professional and leadership exhibits extensive knowledge about equipment and safe food handling. Nearly antiseptically clean working environment. Employees in processing, warehouse, and transportation divisions are warm, cheerful, friendly and hard-working despite markedly low morale.

Cons

18-month non-compete agreements are mandatory. Most employees are vocally fearful of termination. Transportation and warehouse services are understaffed. Contracted carriers are paid below industry standard and many are undependable. Leadership often exhibits loud, inappropriate, disrespectful, unprofessional behavior, inadvertently misdirects employees, routinely rebukes performance and threatens employment.
