    Pros

Work life balance for most of the planning teams are great. There will be those late nights, but management has actually found that there is a balance that needs to be struck. Most people in the office are friends and the new offices are beautiful. The work is pretty fun as well. Finally, it's always fun working at a successful agency. The NY office this year has been on an absolute roll with new business. They've won some exciting and huge accounts. When that happens, it makes the work environment much better.

    Cons

It sounds weird but the new office seating structure isn't my favorite, but some people love it. The office is open seating. This means that when you get in in the morning, you can sit wherever you like. Unfortunately, sometimes that means no open desks with monitors if you come in late, or you have to sit on the other side of the office away from your team. You also don't get a 'home base' to put your stuff, so you're stuck using lockers. The offices are gorgeous now, but it feels like you're working in a library since you don't have a desk.

    Advice to Management

Resist the urge to change things while they're going well. We obviously want to evolve where we can in order to keep up with the times, but employee satisfaction is high.

    Pros

    -Good vacation
    -Great people
    -Work life balance improving
-Changes to upper management has had a positive impact on company culture and morale as leadership has become more transparent and committed to improving the turnover rate
    -Supportive and collaborative teams

    Cons

    -Salary is not very competitive
-Getting promotions, even when it’s acknowledged that you’re deserving, is an uphill battle

    Advice to Management

-Keep being committed to staffing and reducing employee turnover.
-Consider the amount of OT we work when negotiating salaries and give promotions when they’re earned without us having to fight for it. Getting job offers (with a more competitive salary) has been easier than being promoted at MC

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at MediaCom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Big name clients. A few good people there. You will learn about media.

    Cons

Factory like environment. You're often expected to be in the office for an 8 am meeting but still are required to leave at 6pm. Working from home doesn't exist. The floors for analytics have no windows and white desks in an open office environment where your every move is monitored.

You're treated like a commodity and not a person.

Very little actual analytics gets done in the digital analytics group. It's mostly basic reporting and propaganda to sustain Mediacom's digital media buys.

They deliberately hire average employees to make sure they will stay and have little option to go to another company.

Leadership will talk down at you and will turn your co-workers against you or use them to collect intelligence on you. Can be a toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat your people like cattle if you care about turnover rates or employee satisfaction.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at MediaCom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some great, hard-working and intelligent people. If you are very lucky you'll get a few of these on your team (as smaller teams can vary significantly). That's about it.

    Cons

Obsession with internal politics causing immense pressure on employees. You consistently put in 60 hours weekly and its never enough. Incredibly inefficient processes in place. Senior management doesn't care. Out of all the agencies I've worked at, this was by far the worst.

    Advice to Management

If you care about your team, dedicate the time to improving the culture and processes so they can better perform.
