Metatomix would have benefited from stronger product marketing and project management. As an engineer, I rarely had a good feel for what the customer wanted or needed. It's pretty difficult to make design decisions without understanding customer requirements. Project time lines and milestones were rarely clearly communicated.

Management is struggling to define goals. RIFs have culled the workforce of some of the most talented individuals. There is a lack of follow-through on stated intentions to excel in semantic technologies. The company has fielded a lot of applications but has not perfected them to the point where they can be easily maintained, extended, or upgraded.
