I have been working at MicroMass Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company performance bonuses for employees. Paid training. Regular, clear employee reviews and development plans. Above-average assortment of retirement and health benefits including child-care FSA. Authentic company culture emphasizing healthy, hard-working, diverse, balanced fun lifestyle as evidenced by: in-house treadmills; friendly company competitions, outings, social events and volunteerism; a Mother’s Room; errand-running service; stand-up monitor arrays; above-average technology resources; privilege of work-from-home policy in mitigating circumstances; complimentary healthy snacks, coffee, beverages in kitchen/lounge areas. Open-door policy for constructive feedback to management backdropped by my experience of not having witnessed negative career repercussions for voicing unpopular insights.

My 20 years of work experience span: private-sector multi-national executive and management operations, including extended periods of expatriate work embedded as a foreign-language fluent manager in a handful of non-English speaking countries (Pacific Rim, Central America, Caribbean); a decade in the K – 12 and higher education systems as a Teacher’s Assistant, Lead Teacher, and Graduate Student Instructor in several Liberal Arts content areas; and most recently I have successfully advanced to a journeyman IT Professional status specializing in Database Development. At points in my working career I’ve observed garden-variety, serious, and critical organization dysfunction. I cannot report that MicroMass evidences any of these hallmarks at this time. In fact, I am pretty excited about the current prospects for my career path with the company. Moreover, I see others -veteran and newer employees alike- working to the best of their abilities to get the job done in a quality fashion. For me, this is a “win-win” situation and equation: employee’s successes improve the company’s service to its clientele, and thereby hedge future company success.

    Cons

Organization psychology and efficiency may benefit from increased top-down promotion and reminders of current company initiatives at increased regular intervals. Department work-flow silos can inhibit interdepartmental transparency, communication, accountability, cross-training and the adoption of new company initiatives on occasion.

    Advice to Management

Continue to emphasize “what’s worked well” recently for MicroMass – cultivating an organizational culture that values its employees and their wellbeing in tandem with increased recognition of diligence, hard-work, and following-through to completion of company goals, departmental initiatives, and day-to-day work victories. Emphasize and recognize planning, cooperation, transparency and accountability across and within departments to highlight individual and company successes in everyday product development lifecycle and service-delivery to clientele.

I have been working at MicroMass Communications full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people that work here are really great. Everyone genuinly cares about those around them and is interested in how things are going for them (both at work at in personal lives). Work/life balance is generally really great. It's an agency so there are times that things can get super busy, but effort is made by managers to help spread work around when things are busy for specific people.

Management also places a lot of importance on keep morale high. There are seasonal company-sponsored events that are a lot of fun - things like pot lucks, bingo, baby showers, kickball, baseball game outings, and others.

There is a nice benefits package here, especially when you are insuring more than just yourself (spouse, kids).

Also, there is a relaxed dress code which is very appreciated.

Overall, this is an excellent place to work! I love my job.

    Cons

There really isn't much to report here as a con. This is truly a wonderful place to come into each day. If i could change one thing, I'd separate out sick days from vacation days versus combining them so that when you're sick, you aren't using vacation time. However, i think this is relatively standard for many companies.

    Advice to Management

Keep up what you're doing. Things are working well and people are happy and feel appreciated.

    Cons

Micro managing, making excuses for their most favable employees, fakeness, and they act like a colt... high turn over!! Don't waste your time coming here because they will work you like a slave... I hate it here.

Also, they have a horrible reputation for being like a sweat shop

    Advice to Management

    Do better

    Pros

Worthwhile, engaging work. Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

No management or clear direction whatsoever. Good employees are constantly cut with no warning and no apparent reason other than cost savings. Communication is nonexistent. Consistency? Ditto. Company lacks strong leadership. Changes occur way too frequently. Employees have no confidence or trust in leaders.

    Advice to Management

Make a plan and stick to it. Stop cutting jobs so frequently and foster some employee loyalty. Develop consistent, effective management.

    Pros

    Beautiful office park. Great weather.

    Cons

Lots of politics and fighting between departments. Creative department has a revolving door thanks to an incompetent creative director. Account management is just starting to improve with a good hire at the top. Little understanding of advertising or direct response marketing.

    Advice to Management

Overhaul the creative department. Too many C level personnel with overlapping duties. Behavioral science team needs to be in touch with customer behavior, not just patient behavior.
