I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Contrary to a lot of the complaints about this company, at least where I'm at, the management is unobtrusive. Relaxed work environment even with expected hard deadlines.

    Cons

Direct competitors are sister companies whom we sometimes do work sharing with. Lack of a clear job description and hierarchy above your immediate superior.

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time

    Pros

The pay is good and the talent pool is impressive.

    Cons

The company is unorganized, poor communication, takes advantage of the employee, job descriptions do not exist. Expect the unexpected. Turnover rate is high.

    Advice to Management

Let employees know what is expected of them and give them the freedom to do what is necessary to be successful. Give them the opportunity to succeed or fail and then coach if needed. Don't give up on them so quickly.

    Pros

Good pay and many ways to advance in company. They do a good job in training members. Everyone keeps each other safe.

    Cons

Workers often feel overworked. Management expectations are far too high for employees. Can work 12 to 16 hour shifts. They can promise raises and bonuses but you never actually see them.

    Pros

The offer great Benifits. The upper management has lots of changes that they say it's for a better working environment.

    Cons

Being geared to keep the new younger staff without consideration of the hard worker that has been there a long time to help the company grow.

    Advice to Management

Please don't just look on how to get and maintain the younger staff but consider without forgetting the older staff who's been there growing the company the entire time.

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you DONT work for NCI it may be good because new employees have same mindset to be non-caring "business is business" so off with your head without a 2nd thought ! Also if you work outside the USA may be good as well, as they are now outsourcing US jobs to India (which previous Mngt had pride in keeping jobs at home)

    Cons

New Executive Management doesn't have the same philosophy as the founders and had. Working a NCI used to be a family type of environment where at least you felt Mngt CARED

    Advice to Management

no advise, they dont listen anyway.. they will do their jobs (as the Board dictates) , cut jobs, cut tenured employees to "change culture".. but it wont make the numbers go up...
