Pros

Flexible and remote work (for the most part). Health insurance wasn't horrible

Cons

Absolute worst place to work now that Matt is the CEO. He hired a bunch of yes-men into the exec team and began gutting the company. We went into the SKO 2023 with lots of promise for the years to come but now it’s constant lay off cycle after lay off cycle. There is absolutely no vision except “look like we make money.” Execs and management continue to fire entire departments that hold vital knowledge for legacy or new products. All info is siloed and difficult to find. The onboarding is nonexistent outside of product knowledge. Job-specific training is left to already overworked team members and is complete disorganized (it’s mostly sink or swim). The product vision is completely skewed and most of the newest releases are for things clients don’t care about. Very basic and necessary features are overlooked for half-cocked, grandiose releases. Management doesn’t care about you at all. This company has lost the spark it once had. Do not consider working here. No position is safe — even if you are a top performer or product expert.

Too many uncertainties to consider if you are looking at OneSpan

Pros

There was a ton of energy heading into 2023, with a plan to take share from their largest competitor. To accomplish that, OneSpan went on a hiring spree, especially for enterprise sellers and SDRs. Those of us that started during that time were sold on a three year plan with 2023 being a year of pipeline growth and sales. So a lot of good and talented people were hired and the buzz was strong.

Cons

OneSpan pivoted from their plan and laid off most of who they hired at the beginning of the year. Top line growth was no longer the top priority and the company shifted to a profit margin focus- which means a lot of people were let go. Despite being laid off, I'm not bitter at OneSpan- these things happen. I would just warn others that are looking for a solid employer to look elsewhere. If top line growth is not the priority, then more lay offs might be on the horizon and career growth will be limited. It just feels like a business without a rudder.

Pros

My experience at OneSpan was short-lived and a mixed bag for the most part. The good aspects of working at OneSpan was I was given a competitive salary and a generous non-recoverable draw for my first three months I was with the firm. I was also given a lot of autonomy from my manager to drive business in my territory and I never felt like my judgement was questioned at any point.

Cons

The core e-signature offering lacked a number of critical integrations that hampered our ability to sell it and was the main reason why many deals were lost. It 's also in need of updating to look like a modern software product. When you're competing against a well-established player that is beating you on both the integrations front and UI/UX then you need to prioritize those two things rather than hiring a bunch of sales people to sell a crippled product. The company leadership doesn't seem to have a sense of urgency about these things and they have outdated modes of thinking that don't accurately reflect actual market conditions on the ground.
