Pros

Flexibility, I'm struggling to find positives. I found it great to see all the things I didn't want to do with my career. If you can do well here, you'll do well anywhere else.

Cons

It's a shark tank and is the old model of selling. Very few people you can trust. The percentage cuts are lower than industry average and they try to lock top performers in.

The Options Group is a dynamic and leading executive search firm with offices all over the world. Far from being a shark tank, it is a very collaborative recruiting structure with great rapport among all recruiters and support staff. Contrary to the review, our model is now a leader in terms of lists of clients, support, and critical intelligence backing up recruiters. Moreover, we are leading the pack in business development. The commission rate is based upon your position level and most of all, your willingness to work hard. No one is “locked in”. That is just not the case.

Pros

Nice office and freedom to do whatever you want.

Cons

No leadership whatsoever. Compensation structure is subpar at best. Boiler room atmosphere. Lack of education among employees (mainly recruiters). I could go on and on. If you have a college education and a half of a brain, don't waste your time. If you want to make cold calls all day, you're better off being a financial advisor or stockbroker—at least you'll be provided some guidance and could pick up some skills or licenses along the way.

Our leadership is exceptionally strong from the CEO and President on down. This person worked at the Options Group prior to its rebranding which is reflected in its website (www.optionsgroup.com). While the comments are in no way reflective of the firm’s atmosphere at that time, it has become much more than a recruiting firm, with an enhanced critical intelligence function benefiting both recruiter and clients. The people who work at the Options Group - and there are many who have years of experience in the recruiting business as well as at the firm - are talented and well educated. Some even have doctorate degrees in the sciences and quantitative mathematics. All of this makes for a collegial working environment. Regarding cold calls, they are part of recruiting process; if you don’t want to make them, don’t work in recruiting. We also have an in house university for training and development for all employees. Most importantly, our pay structures are competitive with industry standards along with bonus rates.

If the Options Group is overworked and underpaid, why is there low turnover? Your income is determined by the commissions you bring in which is common place among comparable recruiting firms. As for the partners taking in all the money, let’s just say that there are a good number of recruiters in various practices whose commission rates are higher than partners and management.
